Awesome Song!

Matisyahu – One Day lyrics

sometimes I lay
under the moon
and thank God I’m breathing
then I pray
don’t take me soon
cause I am here for a reason
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
because
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day
it’s not about
win or lose cause
we all lose
when they feed on the souls of the innocent
blood drenched pavement
keep on moving though the waters stay raging
in this maze you can lose your way (your way)
it might drive you crazy but don’t let it faze you no way (no way)
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
because
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day

one day this all will change
treat people the same
stop with the violence
down with the hate
one day we’ll all be free
and proud to be
under the same sun
singing songs of freedom like
one day
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day

ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Weird Dream

We were living in an apartment complex which was set up so all the single people lived on the top floor, couples  lived on the middle floor, and everyone else lived on the first floor.

It made sense,  that way you would not hear a bunch of running around on th 3rd floor! *G* There’s more to it though…

I had the front door open and was showing my two oldest daughters four small spider cocoons that were hanging there. I was telling them that when daddy came home, he would have to take care of them, because we do not want them to hatch. Just then, a couple that lived on the second floor walked by us and asked what I was doing, and if we just moved in. I told them yes, that we were new and showed them the spider cocoons. The women said,” Ew, nasty!” and proceeded to walk up to the second floor.

Her husband told me to just get a napkin and grab them and then bring the napkin out to the trash area. I asked him if I brought him out a napkin, would he do it? He said, “Sure.” Then afterwards as he was walking up the stairs to the second floor, he said, “don’t forget to water and trim the tree roots.”

I said, “Wait! what tree roots?” and he pointed to a  tiny door flap that was next to my front door. Up until now, I thought it was some sort of electrical outlet. I bent down to lift the flap and sure enough, there were little tree roots sticking out in there. He said that there very long and went through the whole building, right out to the main grass area in front. That it was some new easier way to garden. He told me to put 6 cups of water in there each week or they would die, and we would get evicted.  And that I also needed to trim them every couple weeks. I said OK, …and then I woke up!

Talk about weird! I have no idea where these strange dreams come from. I did not take anything before I went to bed that would promote such dreams, and actually had a clear mind. *sigh*

Things I've learned since Tanning

1.) You can not get locked in a tanning bed like all those scary movies have had you to believe. They DO NOT lock! They do not close tightly around you either. You can easily move around, and switch from your back to your stomach while underneath them. There is plenty of wiggle room.
2.) Certain medications and herbs will make you extremely light sensitive, and you should not be tanning or in natural sunshine for extended periods, if you are on certain meds/herbs. This said, many people take a 500mg dose of B3/Niacin about 30mins prior to tanning. It works as a tingle lotion.

3.) The term (Hot New Bulbs!) That you see on many tanning salon windows..is a marketing ploy, and how hot the lights get when your tanning have nothing to do with the actual tanning process. In fact, they shouldn’t be getting that hot at all. There is no reason to come out all sticky and sweaty, unless the bed has been running non stop. The salon that I tan at has eight different beds to choose from. And one stand up bed. They are all cleaned and sanitized after each and every use. I watch them do this all the time, and have actually checked out the salons cleaning supplies just to make sure.

That shared, With the stand up booth your body never touches anything, so you do not need to worry about germs. They also steam the floor where you stand after each use though. The stand up beds are probably the best choice for the most even tan. You can raise your arms while holding onto straps and stand straight, or stand with your legs apart. Very versatile!
4.) We all fall under one of the three skin types.
Type 3’s look more “bronze” when they have a tan.  Type 2’s look more “pinkish” when they tan, and Type 4’s look a more “brownish” when they get a tan.
5.) There are tanning beds that don’t give out hardly any harmful rays. The bulbs on these beds, which are called HP beds, are made of Quartz bulbs, not fluorescent, which have a solar ratio of 2% UVB and 98% UVA. UVB rays promote aging and skin cancer.
6.) HP(High Pressure beds) run for $40-$80 grand each, or $30 dollars a session at the salon, but are the best for your skin, and you only need to go for 3 days in a row to get a fast dark tan, and then only twice a month to maintain it.These beds run for 30 minutes max, which you can stay for, and not get burned at all. Very Cool! The only place that I know of that uses these extra $$ beds is called, Palm Beach Tanning. They are a franchise. HP beds continue to tan you for 24-48 hours AFTER you tan compared to a LP bed which only tans you for 8-10 hours after you’ve tanned.
7.) With LP (Low Pressure beds), you need to start off very slow. You need to go every other day for several weeks to build a base tan. Just as you would in the sun. You need to start off laying in the bed for only 3mins for the first couple days, then 5mins,7mins,9mins,then 11-12 mins which will be the max. amount of time. If you go for the full time, which is 12mins.But they do have older LP beds that run for 20mins, but they are not as nice. These sessions are only $3-6 dollars each, or $40 a month, Or $300 a year. I don’t know why anyone would want to go the whole year though, unless you lived in Alaska maybe. LP beds have more UVA then UVB rays.
8.) Yes, there could be hidden cams in the tanning rooms! I mean, there could be…

I am pretty smart at where they would be, and what they look like though.😉

I had a lady tell me that she was tanning at a salon once that only had one bed and there was a tinted window in there. She always wondered if anyone was out-right watching her. I would say so!
I don’t think I would tan somewhere that had windows in the rooms. If you are that self-consious about hidden cams though, don’t go tanning! Honestly, if you lay out at the pool or beach, your going to get looked at most likely, so….

Not that I’m saying I wouldn’t be totally creeped out if a stranger was watching me! Because I would!

9.) UVB is more efficient at signaling melanocytes in your skin to begin producing more melanin.
UVA is more efficient at oxidizing the melanin your skin has already produced, turning it brown.

UVB beds will only get to the top layers of skin.  UVA beds penetrate much deeper. UVB also provides your skin with essential vitamin D! This is alwasy a good thing. Have you ever noticed that when you are outside in the sun for a while, you just feel better when you go back inside, this is due to the vitamin D3 rush! You should get at least 20mins of Sunshine each day to get a beneficial amount of vitamin D3 so you won’t get sick. In the winter time I take 8000IU’s of Vitamin D3 every couple days.  UVB beds are also used to treat conditions like psoriasis and eczema. They have come a long way since the 70’s!

It's a BOY!

Early this morning one of our goats gave birth! She is a first time mama.

Mr. Perfect!

Another male! Our goats always seem to have males. I’m not sure why. We have a friend whos goats always have females, so we just trade off. This new little addition has already been spoken for. We need to keep him for a while though..and then he will go to his new home.

Thankfully, I have an out-doorsy type daughter that woke me up at the crack of dawn, just begging me to let her take a towel out there and clean up. Nora, the mama, was several days past due, and my daughter has been keeping a very close eye on her for us.

My daughter was so exicted! I was excited for her too, as I said..”Well honey, I was really looking forward to getting up EXTRA early this morning while being so sick, BUT–if you really want to take a towel out there and clean up, then I guess I can resist the urge, and let ya?” :oe

And off she went!  DH called to ask if there were any baby goats yet, and I told him the good news.  He reminded me to take a towel out there and clean up all the blood, etc. and  I assured him that our delightful daughter is taking care of it, that I decided todays home-school lesson would be Goat birthing clean-up 101!  Nothing like hands on learning!

Here are the pictures of mama & baby. He really is one of the cutest I’ve ever seen.

I'm Sick!

It has been so long since I caught a cold. I feel miserable!  Nothing major, but still draining none the less..The basic cold that starts off with a really bad sore throat. :o(

I have tried all the natural stuff..ACV,Raw honey, garlic, echinacea, elderberry and even a shot of brandy..Still hurts, so I moved on to Nyquil, which did absolutely nothing, but my husband still swears by it, as it always works for him within a few hours. *G*

My nose is insanely runny too, so I resorted to Benadryl, which always works, but I need to take 3 of them! Soooo, I’m feeling off in la-la land right now!

Isn’t there some golden rule about moms being sick? Ugh! Life must go on…

Eating Worms!

Some things are better off not knowing, and eating worms falls into this category. I went grocery shopping at Costco’s today and bought myself a big container of blackberries for lunch. I was super hungry, because the rest of the family just got done having pizza at the mall and I’m having a fruit only day so didn’t have any.

When I got back to the van I just couldn’t take it any longer. I was so hungry, so decided to ignore the the sticker on the blackberry container that read, RINSE BEFORE EATING, and dived right into them. After-all, I eat the wild blackberries from my back yard without rinsing them every summer. First I checked to see where they were imported from. Mexico the container said. No, they wern’t organic obviously.
I opened them up and took a smell.  I asked the kids if they had any water on hand, that I could pour over them. No one did, so I just started popping them into my mouth as is. I ate nearly the whole container, and when we arrived home, I took the rest over to the sink and rinsed them off  before dumping them into a bowl.  When I walked away, I over heard my daughter say Ewww! MOM!!!!

I went back over to where she was, and she’s pointing to the blackberries, that had dozens upon dozens on tiny green worms all over them!

They were very tiny, but they were in fact crawling all over them. I couldn’t bare to toss them, because I just spend six bucks for the container. I rinsed them again, and again, and again…These tiny little worms just kept coming out.

After realizing that I was going to either have to eat them, because most likely I already downed at least a couple dozen on the way home..OR, toss the rest out?

Sooooo,

I decided to do what any other girly-girl would do… I took a closer look at all the sweet little green worms, explaining to them how they all have had a very good life, a healthy one at that… But their days have come to an end now…..
Then continued to pop the rest in my mouth! :o)~

Looks like today turned out to be a Fruit and Protein day after-all!

Funerals

It’s 81 degrees outside today! The kids are playing on the trampoline outside, but the church next store is getting ready to have a funeral, so I’ll need to call them in soon. This will be the first person buried out there. It is going to be tricky, because our fence is precisly next to the plot,  and our goats are rather noisy when they see people out there. They are also due any day, and have been escaping to eat the grass, which is greener over there. I will feel horrible if they break lose tonight to get the flowers, which will most likely be many.

This is the second place we’ve lived that was piggy-backed to a cemetery. In Connecticut, our house was right next to a very old cemetery. I use to take the kids for long walks and we would read the tombs. Some were from the early 1900’s.  Many, many children and siblings that all died the same day were buried there. Others stated, that they died of  pneumonia. Many of the older tombs told in detail why the person died. I don’t think they do that anymore, but then again, I have never been to a funeral in my life. Only a couple wakes.

Under Water Dream

I had a dream that I was living my life under water. My life was the exact same way it is now, but It was all under the water. I remember looking out my living room window, watching our goats, who were all struggling to walk under the water! Very weird!

I use to use a dream dictionary as a kid, and Yes, I know they are purely fiction, but just for the fun of it, I looked up my dreams meaning..Online-and this is what it says for people who dream they are under the water..It sounds pretty crazy!

To dream that you are underwater, suggests that you are feeling overcome with emotions and are in need of greater control in your life.  To dream that you are breathing underwater, represents a retreat back into the womb. You want to return to a state where you were dependent and free from responsibilities.  Alternatively, you may be submerged in your emotions.
